From Pizza to Push-Ups

Hello lovebugs!

Remember how I posted a few days ago about my love and respect for Kasey/Powercakes?

Well, this is another post dedicated to a fitness 'guru', so to speak, who I absolutely adore for many different reasons. Like Kasey, she's also one of my biggest "fit-sporations". Her name is Asheton... Better known as SMASHETON!

Spotlight: Asheton AKA SMASHETON!

This is Asheton. Not only does she have a killer body, but she also has a killer personality. She's super sweet, super supportive, and SUPER inspiring!

The reason I titled this 'spotlight' post as "From Pizza to Push-Ups", is because Asheton often "brags" (in a good way!) about how she, as most people like to call it (except me! I HATE this word!), "cheats" on her healthy living "diet" by eating an entire pizza!
Now, I don't want to sound like she has a horrible eating pattern, because she has far from one! She just eats what she wants, and when she wants. Plus, when she's not eating an entire pizza, she's killing it with her workouts! But, whether that'd be pizza or deli meats (which I personally love... unlike most fitness and health fanatics)  And the reason I mention this is because she doesn't deprive herself, like MANY fitness "gurus" out there. She doesn't feel guilty after. She knows she works out hard enough, and eats "clean" enough most of the time to treat herself sometimes. Asheton shows that fun side of real healthy living, and I find that really inspiring. Moderation is such an important factor in everyone's life, and unfortunately most people assume healthy living means depriving themselves.

Overall, Asheton Smasheton is just a beautiful and inspiring person, inside and out. Her posts on Tumblr and on Instagram help me and many other girls more than she knows! Thank you, Smash, for being so amazing and inspiring! Love youuuu!

Strong is the New Skinny

I remember my desire to be skinny. My desire to have showing hipbones, collarbones, and a thigh gap you could drive a car through.

I'm not that person anymore. Those aren't my desires anymore. Yeah, I'm still struggling with body image, restrictive/disordered thoughts/habits, and whatever else... But, I know for a fact that the person I once was, I won't be again. I want to be strong. I want to be fit. I want to be able to flex and have muscle... not bone and nothing more. (That's not attractive, nor is it comfortable...) What is a body without any structure? Not a body, that's for sure.

My newest obsession, and "fit-spiration", is Zuzana Light.
Zuzana is a fitness personality, most known for her killer workouts on Body Rock TV! She's actually co-founder of BRTV (my other new obsession!), and she's just... beautiful. Inside and out. She has a lovely personality, and her videos are beyond motivating! She's SO strong, and it's nice to see a girl like her. A girl who's not afraid to have muscles, and to push herself. A girl who strays away from cardio sometimes and does tons of strength and HIIT (high-intensity interval training). Some of her "ZWOWs" are even harder than some Insanity videos... and, if you've even attempted Insanity, you'd KNOW those are pretty darn hard themselves! During one of her videos today, my heart-rate reached higher than ever before!

Fitness Survey

Taken from Kaila! I loved these questions, therefore I felt the need to answer them myself 

1.  Run/workout in the heat and humidity or freezing temps and snow?
Heat, for sure! The more sweat, the better!
2. Have washboard abs or flat abs?
I guess a mixture of both? I don't want too manly-looking of abs, but I also don't want just a flat stomach of skin and bones.

3. Dr. Oz or The Doctors?
I've never seen 'The Doctors', but I guess Dr. Oz is alright. He believes in too many fad diets, in my opinion. Not my thing!
4. Cardio or strength?
Cardio!! I'm a cardio ADDICT! I do definitely need to incorporate more strength training into my normal exercise, but it's quite hard without a gym membership.
5. Cravings: Protein or carbs?
Actually, I crave both equally! Haha. I crave (and eat) grilled chicken A LOT, which is probably weird...
6. Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper?
I guess Jillian Michaels. But, Shaun T. over everyone
7. Frozen Yogurt or Ice Cream?
I haven't had much frozen yogurt, so I'm biased towards ice cream until I finally go out to get fro-yo!
8. To train: Upper body or Lower body?
Upper body. I love training my arms, and I despise lunges and squats... Even though they do my body good!
9. Protein powder or food with protein?
Food with protein all. the. way. I like my protein powder, but I like my natural protein more!
10. Lunges or squats?
AHHHH! I despise them equally as much! Hahahaha. I guess squats, though!
11. Sweet or salty?
I crave sweet more, but I love 'em both equally. Not too salty, though... Or too sweet. Just enough.
12. Workout attire: cute or comfy?
Well, I'd definitely choose comfy over cute and uncomfortable... But if I could pick cute AND comfortable, then I definitely would. I like looking nice, even in my workout gear.
13. Body Pump or Heavy lifting?
I haven't tried either! I MUST!
14. Yoga or Pilates?
Yoga for the mind, muscles, and strength. Pilates for the abz.
15. Nike or Adidas?
Nike!
16. Running on the treadmill or outdoors?
I'm not much of a runner period, but I don't really like treadmills. They bore me, like most gym machines. I'd personally prefer to run outside... even though I rarely do because I have a fear of running alone (haha... I'm paranoid).
17. Whole Foods or Trader Joes?
I've never been to either because neither are located near me. 
18. Summer or Winter Olympics?
I don't watch either, haha.
19. Exercises classes or Exercise videos?
I'm more of a video person... Mostly because I've never really taken a class. Haha. I love my Insanity, though! 
20. Steamed veggies or roasted veggies?
STEAMED! I have steamed broccoli and carrots nearly every single day. I. Am. Obsessed.
